Biitigong Nishnaabeg invites students aged 15 to 30 years of age and returning to school in the fall to apply.

Under the Supervision of the Public Works Supervisor and the Summer Student Supervisor will be responsible for:

• Assist in the beautification of Biigtigong community areas including the baseball field, playground area, church, powwow grounds, etc.
• Assist in yard work for elders.
• Fix community signs and work on potential new signage (includes painting);
• Help Biigtigong staff with basic maintenance and upkeep.
• Cleaning and upkeep of public buildings.
• Other general maintenance tasks that may arise on the job.

Requirements:

• Must have proper work safety gear – safety boots, glasses, hard hats, vest, etc.
• Willingness to work outdoors.
• Basic knowledge of yard and hand tools including lawn mower, weed trimmer, hammer, etc.
• Ability to take initiative and direction.
• Ability to work with little supervision in a team or individual setting.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
• Positive and energetic attitude.
